Dr. Stephen Brown is a native of Brewton, AL, and has lived and practiced in Rome since August 2007. 
Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate education at Princeton University where he played varsity football for four years and was a starting linebacker/defensive end for the 1992 Ivy League Championship Team.

He went on to obtain his Medical Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama, and then completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.  Upon completion of residency training, Dr. Brown went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder and Elbow Reconstruction with OrthoCarolina, Charlotte, NC.  During his career, Dr. Brown has been fortunate to have helped serve various sports organizations in a physician role, including:  Carolina Panthers (NFL), Charlotte Knights (Triple A-White Sox), UNC-Charlotte, Davidson College, UAB, and various other professional, collegiate and high school teams in Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, Rome, GA and surrounding areas.Dr. Brown's practice focuses on athletic injuries, prevention and care; as well as all arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee.  He has extensive training in shoulder, elbow and knee reconstructive and replacement procedures and also enjoys participating in the care of patients with traumatic injuries and those in need of fracture care. 

Dr. Brown and his wife, Melinda reside in Rome and they have three sons, Lawson, Connor and Banks.
